The day we’ve all been waiting for has arrived: Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has been officially revealed! Mark your calendars and prepare to journey through the Lands Between some more. Shadow of the Erdtree is set to launch on June 21st, 2024.
This expansion is poised to be massive, following in the footsteps of its critically acclaimed predecessor. Elden Ring, the ninjarefinery.com 2022 Game of the Year, sold a staggering 20 million copies, and the hype surrounding its DLC has been simmering ever since its announcement nearly a year ago.

Here’s today’s trailer. I managed to sit and wait with thousands of others on Namco Bandai’s YouTube channel today to get that sweet 3-minute fix.
Historically, FromSoftware’s DLCs have been legendary. The much loved, haunting beauty and epic boss fight of Dark Souls’ Artorias of the Abyss—the acclaimed trio of expansions for Dark Souls 2. Shadow of the Erdtree has some big shoes to fill, but the pedigree is undeniable.

I can see you can now pre-order on Steam, and there’s not a massive amount to go on in terms of detail. No doubt there will be in-depth trailer analyses all over the shop in the coming couple of days. But right now, we don’t know a lot.
There was some kind of brawler moveset, maybe monk style? Some throwing knives? Oh damn, I’m excited! Miquella, an auto-firing crossbow. Shadow of the Erdtree is going to be huge.

Detail is scarce, but we all know a couple of facts without the need for a trailer. This is going to be hard, and the new bosses are going to kick our behinds, many many times.
I never expected to be excited for a DLC for a Soulsborne game. But here we are. I think I’m going to have to go in and re-spec, perhaps get my Elden Ring rust shaken off. I can’t go in and not remember the buttons and flow.
When was the last time you got pumped for a DLC? It feels like another game is coming out! We don’t understand the scale of the DLC, so Shadow of the Erdtree could be a little jaunt for a few hours, or it could be another mammoth addition to a game already steeped in secrets, mystery and lore. Obviously, we’re hoping for the latter, and at the price of nearly the same as the full game, let’s hope it’s meaty!!
