Ubisoft has revealed new details about Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the upcoming game set in feudal Japan. Players will experience a world filled with samurai, ninjas, and historical locations, bringing a fresh setting to the Assassin’s Creed series. The main story will take around 40 hours to complete for those who only focus on the main missions.

Jonathan Dumont, the game’s creative director, discussed the game’s length in a livestream on the German channel Frag Nart. He explained that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be longer than Assassin’s Creed Origins (which took around 30 hours) but shorter than Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (which had a 45+ hour campaign). Ubisoft aims to maintain a balanced experience, as some players found previous Assassin’s Creed games to be too long due to extra missions and content.

Even though the main story is 40 hours long, there will be plenty of additional content. Players can spend extra time exploring feudal Japan, completing side quests, uncovering hidden secrets, and enjoying the detailed open world. The game’s setting is designed to be rich and immersive, encouraging players to take their time and discover everything it offers.

Ubisoft has yet to reveal full details about side missions and additional activities, but Assassin’s Creed Shadows is expected to offer a deep and engaging experience beyond just the main story. Fans of the Assassin’s Creed series who enjoy open-world exploration will likely find many hours of content beyond the campaign. The game is set to release later this year, and Ubisoft will likely share more updates soon.
