Total War: MEDIEVAL III is finally happening. SEGA and Creative Assembly have confirmed the series’ return to real history, dropping a short announcement trailer and a handful of early details. The game is still deep in development, but the studio says it wants this to be the ultimate medieval strategy experience.
Total War: MEDIEVAL III – Announce Trailer
This new entry aims to bring back everything players loved about the classic Medieval games. You’ll build kingdoms, reshape history, and push your empire through the Middle Ages with more control than ever before. Creative Assembly says the team is chasing a mix of historical accuracy and strong player choice, creating something that feels familiar but bold at the same time. It isn’t a simple sequel. They want it to feel like a major step forward.
There’s no release window yet. No Steam page either. And the announcement trailer doesn’t offer much, showing only tone-setting visuals. There are no gameplay clips and not even early in-engine screenshots. So yes, this is very early.

All we have right now are a few pieces of concept art and the promise of big ambitions. If you’re hoping to play Total War: MEDIEVAL III soon, temper your expectations. Judging by how early this reveal is, a 2027 or 2028 launch feels likely. Whether that guess holds up, we’ll have to wait and see.
