A fresh take on horror is creeping into virtual reality. Flat2VR Studios and Starbreeze Studios have announced Out of Sight VR, a VR adaptation of The Gang-developed horror game, coming to PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, and Quest 2 and 3. While there’s no release date yet, a non-VR version of Out of Sight is also in the works for PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC (Steam).

A second-person VR horror experience

Unlike traditional first-person VR horror, Out of Sight VR shifts the perspective in a completely new way. You don’t play as the protagonist, Sophie; you play as her teddy bear, the only source of vision she has. Sophie is blind, trapped in a decaying mansion, and surrounded by unseen threats. As her guardian, you don’t control her directly; instead, you use Teddy’s perspective to guide her through the darkness, revealing hidden paths, avoiding captors, and uncovering secrets buried within the mansion’s walls.

The game combines puzzle-solving and perspective-based horror with chase sequences that force you to think fast and position yourself strategically. Every move feels like a test of responsibility—one wrong decision, and Sophie could fall into the hands of her pursuers.

More than just horror

Out of Sight VR doesn’t just aim to scare—it builds an emotional connection between you and Sophie. Every escape brings relief, and every mistake feels like a failure to protect her. The game’s eerie atmosphere, shifting shadows, and mysterious remnants of the past add layers to the experience, making it more than just a simple horror game.

There’s no word on a release date yet, but with Flat2VR Studios behind the VR adaptation, expectations are high. If you’re a fan of immersive horror and want something that challenges the way you play, Out of Sight VR might be one to watch.
