Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth may be heading to the Switch 2 much sooner than many expected.
A new report from The Gamer claims that Square Enix is currently aiming for a Summer 2026 release for the Switch 2 version. This would bring the second part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series to Nintendo’s next console within the same year as other platforms.
The report adds a small warning. Plans could still change if the game needs more development time. Even so, Summer 2026 is said to be the target right now.

This backs up earlier insider talk. A trusted source recently stated that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is still planned for Xbox in 2026. The game’s director has also confirmed that both Part 2 and Part 3 are in development for the Switch 2.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth could launch on Xbox and Switch 2 together
Well-known insider NateTheHate posted on ResetEra that the Xbox and Switch 2 versions should release at the same time, just like Remake did. If that happens, players on both platforms could be playing Rebirth this summer.

The timing makes sense. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade only arrived on Xbox recently.
