EVE Online is entering a bold new era, and Legion is leading the charge. Revealed during this year’s EVE Fanfest in Reykjavík, CCP officially announced EVE Online: Legion, the next major expansion for the long-running sci-fi MMO. Launching on May 27, Legion is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious updates in 22-year history, with new tools for leadership, devastating warships, and a job system that reshapes how players enter New Eden’s eternal warzone.
Freelance Jobs are the new frontier
The big hook this time around? The Freelance Jobs system. Whether you’re a lone wolf, a fresh recruit, or a grizzled war vet without a corp, this system gives you the power to choose your battles. Want to haul critical supplies across dangerous sectors? Jump into a skirmish with hired guns? Or maybe manage a full-scale industrial operation behind the frontlines? It’s all possible, on your terms. Every job adds to your reputation and builds a pathway into the sprawling, player-run corporations that define the political and economic machine.

It’s recruitment, but with agency. You pick the jobs. You earn the trust. You carve your place into EVE‘s legendary wars.
Two new warships are ready to rip the void apart
No EVE expansion would be complete without shiny new ships, and Legion doesn’t disappoint.
- The Babaroga: This beast is a Triglavian Tech II marauder, armed with entropic disintegrators and a Bastion module. It’s pure sub-capital DPS fury, engineered for tearing through enemy lines with precision and power.
- The Sarathiel: Representing the Angel Cartel, this new dreadnought brings heavy firepower at range, loaded with massive projectile damage bonuses. It’s also the first and only dreadnought in the game that can use a Capital Micro Jump Drive in siege mode. That’s tactical flexibility like never before.

Expect major changes to ship balance too, especially for cruisers and capital ships, Legion is more than a content drop; it’s a combat overhaul.
Corporations and alliances get a power makeover
Legion is all about putting control in the hands of players. Alliances now have new mechanics to fortify systems, exploit resources, and draw power lines across the map. It’s not just about numbers anymore—it’s about strategy, influence, and long-term presence.
And if you’re into aesthetics, the Corporation Palette lets you unify your fleet’s look. Shared colours, shared flag, shared cause. It’s a small touch with a big impact when you see dozens of ships moving as one.

Skill Points, maps, and faster growth
Omega clones are also getting a boost. Through the AIR Career Program, they’ll earn more Skill Points, helping pilots, especially newer ones, develop quicker and get into real action faster. There’s also a revamp of the star map experience, designed to make navigating New Eden more intuitive and strategic.

Dev team and player council, working side by side
Legion was developed closely with the Council of Stellar Management, keeping feedback at the centre of design. According to Bergur Finnbogason, Creative Director:
“With Legion, we’re opening a direct path to joining the fight in gaming’s largest war… Freelance Jobs give anyone the power to fleet up, earn rewards, and shape the future of New Eden.”
Snorri Árnason, Game Director, added:
“Step up. The time to take command is now. With new warships and new blood, the power to define your legacy has never been greater.”

EVE Vanguard: Nemesis event hits September 16
But that’s not all from Fanfest. EVE Vanguard, CCP’s upcoming FPS, is officially headed to Steam Early Access in Summer 2026. Before that, a major public test called Nemesis will run on September 16—your final chance to try the game before launch. It’s boots-on-the-ground action, set in the same universe, and designed to link directly into the EVE Online ecosystem.
