Assassin’s Creed Shadows is off to a strong start, becoming the UK’s biggest physical game launch of the year. While Monster Hunter Wilds saw massive success, selling eight million copies and hitting 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is making its own mark.

The latest Assassin’s Creed entry has already surpassed two million players, outpacing Monster Hunter Wilds in UK physical sales. According to Christopher Dring of GameIndustry.biz, Shadows has sold more boxed copies in a week than Star Wars Outlaws did in three months. That’s a tough stat for Ubisoft, given that Outlaws underperformed, and even Assassin’s Creed Mirage didn’t meet all expectations.
Despite delays and pre-release controversy, this game hit over a million players on launch day, proving the wait was worthwhile. The game has now outperformed Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in early player numbers, showing strong momentum.

However, its hold on the top spot may be short-lived, with heavyweights like Call of Duty, Mario Kart 9, and Grand Theft Auto VI on the horizon. For now, though, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a clear win for Ubisoft.
