With the rise in streaming, podcasting and content creation in general. There’s never been a better time to be in the microphone game. JOBY aren’t a new face in the content creation game, though. With their renowned Gorilla tripods, they’re a well-known brand in the space, and now it seems as though they’re bolstering their position in the market.

I’ve taken some time out from playing Rollerdome to review both the JOBY Wavo POD and the JOBY Wavo Boom Arm in the video below. But if you’re stuck for time or want the all-important tl;dr version, there are some summary points further down the page.

JOBY Wavo POD written review

Having spent a fair bit of time with the JOBY Wavo POD microphone, I’ve got to tell you, it’s quite the game-changer for any avid gamer or streaming enthusiast. A tool that not only simplifies the entire process but also significantly amplifies the quality of your audio, it’s a real gem, ready to shine right out of the box.

What struck me first was how incredibly user-friendly this gadget is. There’s no messing about with intricate setup procedures. It’s just a matter of plugging it in and getting stuck in straight away. Even the most technophobic among us would find it a doddle.

The most noteworthy aspect, though, is the audio quality – it’s top-notch. Whether you’re using it for gaming, podcasting or even just a quick chinwag with your mates on Discord, the sound is crystal clear. I’ve used a fair few mics in my time, and the Wavo POD ranks highly amongst them for quality.

A unique feature is its ability to switch between cardioid and omnidirectional mics, providing an excellent option to tailor your recording requirements. It’s a rather handy feature, allowing you to optimise your setup depending on whether you’re aiming for a focused, individual recording or capturing a broader, more ambient sound.

The in-mic jack for a monitoring headset is a godsend. It allows real-time monitoring of your audio without the need for any complex wiring or software. It’s an unassuming little feature that punches well above its weight in terms of practicality.

Finally, the inclusion of both USB-C to USB-A and USB-C to USB-C cables in the box is a thoughtful touch, ensuring that whatever your setup, the Wavo POD can fit right in without any extra faff or additional purchases.

To sum it up, the JOBY Wavo POD microphone is a sturdy, reliable choice for those seeking to elevate their audio game. It offers premium features and high-quality performance without fuss. A well-rounded, versatile microphone, it truly offers bang for your buck.
