So for this week’s Throwback Thursday I thought it’d be nice to do another “On this day…” segment where we look at some of the significant gaming events of years gone by.

  • To kick things off we head back to 1993 when I was still a little babby and EstrelaGradiente and Nintendo signed a deal to create Playtronic who was the first company outside of Japan to produce Nintendo products. It has released the NES, Super NES, Game Boy, Virtual Boy and the Nintendo 64.
  • Jump forward two years to 1995 and over in the United States, the public was treated to the Earthworm Jim: Special Edition on Sega CD.
  • Travel through time to the Millenium and Trecision acquire both Pixelstorm Games and Motherbrain Entertainment, making them the leading creator of video games for consoles, PC and the wireless market in Italy.
  • Step into 2002 and the UK goes Pokémon mad as it sees Pokémon Party miniPokémon Pinball miniPokémon Puzzle Collection and Pokémon Zany Cards all released.
  • That wasn’t the only year where a game franchise saw multiple releases though, as in 2007, Hitman 2: Silent AssassinHitman: Blood Money and Hitman: Codename 47 were all released worldwide on Steam.
  • In 2011, there were a couple big names released with both Homefront and Total War: Shogun 2 becoming available on the 15th March.
  • A year later in 2012 and it was very busy in Germany with releases for the likes of Assassin’s Creed: Ezio TrilogyDragon Age II, FIFA 11Limbo: Special EditionNeed for Speed: Hot PursuitSonic: Colors and WWE Smackdown Vs RAW 2011.
  • 2015 saw just one game released this day and that was Big Fish Games’ House of 1000 Doors: Evil Inside (Collector’s Edition).
  • 2016 saw the worldwide arrival of ARK: Survival Evolved on Steam Early Access.
  • And today? Today is pretty special, as we officially register our own company, FULLSYNC Ltd.
