Tom Clancy’s The Division is back, but this return feels oddly hollow.
Talk around The Division: Definitive Edition had been picking up for weeks. With The Division 3 still in development, this looked like an easy win. A refreshed version of the original game could have helped new players jump in and given long-time fans a reason to return.
That did not happen.

No PS5 or Series X version for The Division: Definitive Edition
The game was quietly released on PlayStation and Xbox on 3 February, with no announcement or promotion. Once players spotted it on stores, the disappointment quickly set in.
Despite the name, there is no PS5 or Xbox version. The game runs through backwards compatibility, with no new visuals, no performance upgrades, and no gameplay changes. What you get is the base game, all three Season Pass expansions, and a handful of cosmetic packs.
In other words, this is very close to the existing Gold Edition. The only improvements come from basic console upscaling, not from any work done by Ubisoft.

At £50, it is a tough ask for players who already own the game. Even newcomers may pause when they realise nothing has been modernised.
With other recent issues surrounding Ubisoft, this low-effort release feels poorly timed and hard to defend.
