So, The Division 2 is heading back to where it all began, Brooklyn. But this time, things are different. Ubisoft Massive just pulled the curtain back on the Battle for Brooklyn DLC, and it looks like they’ve been busy. Whether you’re already deep in DC or thinking of jumping back in, this expansion might be the push you need.
First things first: launch is locked for May 27, and it’s coming to PC and consoles for £11.99 (that’s $14.99 for our pals across the pond). If you’ve got the Gold Edition or Ultimate Edition of The Division 2, you’re sorted it comes included. And yep, those editions also pack in the Warlords of New York, a level 40 boost, and extra stash slots, so you’re not stuck playing inventory Tetris. The Ultimate Edition even throws in 1000 Premium Credits and the Year 1 Pass for good measure.
Battle for Brooklyn DLC and Year 7 showcase
Back to Brooklyn, but not as you remember it
This isn’t the same borough as the first game. Ubisoft says Brooklyn’s been overhauled to feel more alive, more interactive, and way more story-focused. Gone are the endless side distractions. The main missions here are handcrafted to give you a clear, cinematic arc from start to finish—none of that open-world ADHD. Expect your first run of Battle for Brooklyn to take about six to ten hours, which sounds just about perfect for a weekend binge.
But the Cleaners are back, and they’ve got a new toy: the Purple Flame. It’s not just for show. This thing applies a corrosive debuff that chips away at your max armour, which is going to force some serious rethinking on how you engage. No more face-tanking through flames, you’ll need to plan your moves.

Smart Cover 2.0 is here, and it’s looking sharp
Remember Smart Cover from the earlier games? It’s back, reworked, and honestly sounding pretty slick. Now it buffs both offence and defence while boosting boss resistance for your whole squad. You’ll get two flavours: Precision Smart Cover and Fortified Smart Cover, with each tuned differently for PvP. Whether you want to hunker down or take calculated risks, it adds another tactical layer that feels meaningful.

Beyond the Battle for Brooklyn DLC: What’s coming in Year 7?
Ubisoft’s not just dropping the Battle for Brooklyn DLC and bouncing. They’ve teased a roadmap for Year 7, and it sounds like they’re dialling into what players want. That means:
- A smoother onboarding experience for new and returning players.
- More depth in the endgame, which has been a weak spot for a while.
- Making seasonal content the real backbone of The Division 2, with more consistent updates and events.

And here’s something spicy: They’re introducing a new system that makes the open world more reactive. Your actions will have consequences, and unlocking exotic blueprints will now tie into how you shape the map itself. If it works as promised, this could seriously freshen up the daily loop.
If you’ve been waiting for a reason to reinstall The Division 2, Battle for Brooklyn might just be it. It’s a mix of nostalgia and new mechanics, and with more thoughtful pacing, it could finally strike the balance the game’s been chasing for years.
