ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the first-ever ROG Strix networking device, the dual-band GS-AX5400 WiFi 6 (802.11ax) gaming router.

ROG Strix GS-AX5400 is a sharply styled router designed for serious all-around gaming and delivers ultrafast WiFi 6 combined speeds of up to 5400 Mbps when used with 160 MHz channels.

With Strix GS-AX5400 it’s easy to prioritise gaming packets from any kind of gaming device — mobile, PC or console — via the Mobile Game Mode, Gaming Port and Gear Accelerator features, making it supremely flexible. Console gamers will appreciate the easy-to-use Open NAT feature, and VPN Fusion allows PC gamers to simultaneously use a VPN connection and an ordinary connection.

Strix GS-AX5400 owners can enjoy enhanced privacy when using public WiFi hotspots anywhere in the world with the Instant Guard feature. This creates a secure VPN data tunnel to Strix GS-AX5400 with just a single click. Additionally, ASUS AiProtection Pro provides free lifetime network security for all connected devices.

Designed for Style. Powered to Win.

ROG Strix GS-AX5400 is sleekly styled in black with an on-trend athletics-inspired design and a compact footprint, giving it a fleet and fast ROG Strix vibe. There are ROG Strix ‘slash’ design cues, and the top surface has a dot-matrix texture. Controllable Aura RGB lighting on the front panel allows gamers to customise lighting effects to their taste.

The dual-band WiFi 6 in Strix GS-AX5400 features 160 MHz channels on the 5 GHz frequency band, giving a total bandwidth of up to 5400 Mbps. OFDMA and MU-MIMO technology improve network efficiency in device-dense environments, offering up to 4X the network capacity of WiFi 5. WiFi 6 is also fully compatible with all existing WiFi devices.

Optimised gaming on any device

With ROG Strix GS-AX5400, gamers can enjoy optimised gaming on any kind of gaming device, whether it’s a smartphone, a PC or laptop, or a games console.

Mobile Game Mode instantly prioritises smartphone gaming via a single tap in the ASUS Router app, lowering ping times and reducing latency.

The dedicated Gaming Port automatically prioritises traffic from any wired device connected to it, with no need for complex configuration, and any device can be prioritised wirelessly via the Gear Accelerator feature in Strix GS-AX5400’s online control panel. Adaptive QoS can additionally analyse traffic and prioritise game packets, enabling the best possible performance.

For console gamers, Open NAT provides a simple way to enable port forwarding in just three easy steps.

WAN and LAN aggregation allows users to combine two gigabit Ethernet ports with a single click to enable either up to a 2 Gbps internet connection to a suitable ISP, or a 2 Gbps LAN connection for connection to bandwidth-hungry devices such as a NAS.

On most routers, making a VPN connection prevents gamers from using an ordinary connection. Strix GS-AX5400 includes VPN Fusion, a feature that allows simultaneous VPN and non-VPN connections, so gamers can enjoy maximum speeds at all times.

More privacy, anywhere

ROG Strix GS-AX5400 offers protection both inside and outside the home. At home, free lifetime network security is provided by AiProtection Pro, powered by Trend Micro. This protects all connected devices and includes advanced Parental Controls.

Outside the home, Strix GS-AX5400 owners can enjoy the protection of Instant Guard, a feature that makes any public WiFi connection secure and private. Instant Guard creates a VPN data tunnel back to Strix GS-AX5400 from anywhere in the world, giving owners full peace of mind when they are using potentially insecure public internet connections.
