SoundPEATS Air5 Pro review: Impressive features, punchy sound, and ANC at a budget price

I’ve been using the SoundPEATS Air5 Pro for a few weeks now, and honestly, they’ve surprised me more than once. From the moment I unboxed them, it felt like I’d gotten my hands on something a bit more premium than the price suggested. They look good, sound even better, and the app gives you control over everything without making you dig through menus.

First impressions – Clean design with a premium vibe

Right out of the box, these feel premium. The matte finish on the case looks sleek. It’s compact enough to slide into your pocket without that bulky feel. The earbuds themselves have a design on the stem that adds a unique touch, something you don’t usually see at this price.

Each Air5 Pro earbud is lightweight at just 4.8g, yet the build feels solid. There’s also IPX5 water resistance, so you’re covered for workouts and unexpected rain. In the box, you get:

  • Earbuds and charging case
  • USB Type-C charging cable
  • 3 sizes of ear tips (S/M/L)
  • User manual
  • App guide
  • SoundPEATS sticker (yep, that too)

It’s a full package and nothing feels cheap.

Sound quality of Air5 Pro – Better than I expected, every time

I’ve tried Air5 Pro with music, games, and phone calls. And across the board, the sound quality has been outstanding. The bass is clean and punchy, vocals sit well in the mix, and even at higher volumes, the clarity holds up. In gaming, I played PUBG Mobile quite a bit the sound was perfectly synced. Footsteps, reloads, everything was spot on with no delay.

Call quality was also great. The person on the other end could hear me clearly, and I didn’t hear background noise messing things up. The 6-mic setup with AI noise reduction works.

And yeah, there’s LDAC and aptX Lossless support for proper hi-res wireless sound if your device supports it.

Controls and app – Smooth and simple

One thing I liked a lot was how the touch controls were set up in Air5 Pro. Left side to reduce volume, right side to increase, and a double tap on the left to switch ANC modes. Easy to remember and it works, no random mis-taps.

But where it gets good is the PeatsAudio app. It’s clean, easy to use, and packed with features. You can switch between ANC modes, turn on game mode, customise the touch controls, adjust EQ (with 12 presets including HiFi and ACG), and even run a fit test for the earbuds. You also get the option to enable LC3, LDAC, or multipoint pairing from the app.

It just gives you full control without feeling bloated.

Noise cancellation – Like being in your little world

The ANC on Air5 Pro is legit. I’ve used them on the road, in noisy offices, and during commutes, and they cut out most of the low-level noise completely. The moment music starts, it’s like flipping a switch. I could barely hear anything around me, even at 70% volume. There are different modes too, adaptive, indoor, outdoor, and traffic, and they make a difference depending on where you are.

Transparency mode is also solid when you want to hear what’s going on around you without pulling them out.

Gaming performance – Real low-latency

Tried these with PUBG Mobile, and there was no audio lag at all. The 60ms game mode kicks in instantly and makes footsteps and gunfire sound tight and responsive. If you’re into mobile gaming, these won’t let you down.

Battery – Long-lasting and reliable

I didn’t push them for a full 7+ hour session in one go, but even with regular use throughout the week, I never had to recharge the case. The battery really held up. And if you’re in a hurry, a 10-minute charge gives around 2 hours of playback which saved me more than once.

Final thoughts on the SoundPEATS Air5 Pro – No hype, just honest value

For the price ($79.99 / ~£63), these are properly feature-packed. You’re getting excellent sound, powerful ANC, app control, low latency, long battery, and a comfortable fit all in one neat, stylish package. I’ve used pricier buds before, but Air5 Pro held their own without trying too hard.

It’s the kind of product that makes daily use feel easy, and I haven’t felt the need to switch back to anything else since I started using them.
