The latest State of Play finally gave us a proper look at Silent Hill: Townfall. Konami and Annapurna Interactive revealed gameplay, and it already feels different from classic entries.

The project comes from Screen Burn, previously known as No Code. Writer-director Jon McKellan says the goal was simple: keep the spirit of the series but show it through the team’s own creative lens.

This time, the horror shifts to first-person. Lead designer Graeme McKellan believes the narrow view makes tension stronger. What you cannot see can feel worse than what you can.

Combat looks familiar yet flexible. You can fight using makeshift weapons or avoid danger. A peek system lets protagonist Simon Ordell check corners before stepping out. It feels slower, more careful.

A new gadget, the CRTV pocket TV, replaces the classic radio idea. You tune signals by hand to spot threats and uncover story hints. It adds a grounded, analogue touch.

The setting also stands out. Inspired by Scotland’s east coast, especially places like St Monans, the town uses heavy coastal fog for atmosphere and mystery.

Silent Hill: Townfall is planned for PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games Store in 2026. For now, it looks like a bold but thoughtful step for the series.
