Yu Suzuki and ININ Games have officially unveiled Shenmue III Enhanced, a polished and expanded edition of the cult adventure. The announcement was made at Gamescom 2025, confirming the game is headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), and Nintendo platforms (TBC). For Xbox players, it’s a first; Shenmue III has never previously been available on Microsoft’s hardware.
The Shenmue III Enhanced Edition stays true to Ryo Hazuki’s journey while introducing a broad range of improvements. From technical boosts to gameplay tweaks, this is pitched as the definitive way to experience Shenmue III.

Shenmue III Enhanced key upgrades include:
- Sharper textures, refined environments, and smoother framerates.
- 4K texture uplift and support for DLSS/FSR upscaling on supported platforms.
- Denser crowds in Niaowu, making the city feel more alive.
- Classic Camera Mode, a nostalgic throwback to Shenmue I & II.
- Gameplay tweaks such as optional stamina adjustments, auto-health restoration before fights, and lighter money barriers.
- More forgiving QTE timing windows and the ability to skip conversations or cutscenes.
- Streamlined menus and helpful alerts for purchases.
- Importantly, almost every new feature can be toggled off, letting purists stick with the original feel.

Owners of the PS4 and PC versions won’t be left behind, either. ININ Games confirmed that an upgrade path to the Enhanced Edition will be available, with further details to follow soon.
Shenmue III Enhanced is more than just a technical facelift. It’s a careful reimagining designed to welcome new players, while still respecting those who’ve been following Ryo’s story since the Dreamcast days.
