Sony Interactive Entertainment and Housemarque have unveiled Saros, a third-person action game launching on PlayStation 5 in 2026.

Creative director Gregory Louden describes it as the “ultimate evolution” of Housemarque’s gameplay-first approach. After Returnal, the team wanted to build something fresh while retaining their signature action and storytelling.
In Saros, players step into the role of Arjun Devraj, a relentless Soltari Enforcer searching for someone in the eerie, desolate world of Carcosa, a lost colony trapped under an ominous eclipse. The game promises an intense, emotional character study exploring the sacrifices needed to build a new future.
Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher) plays Arjun, bringing him to life with a “stunning performance.” He’s not alone on Carcosa, and more of the ensemble cast will be revealed soon.

A fresh approach to progression
Unlike Returnal, Saros introduces permanent resources and progression. Every death changes the world, but this time, players can permanently upgrade their weapons and suit to “come back stronger” and push forward.

Housemarque is promising more details on gameplay, art, audio, music, and how they’re pushing the PS5 hardware later this year, with an extended gameplay reveal on the way.
