Capcom has officially pulled back the curtain on Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline entry in the long-running survival horror series. It’s headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC (Steam), with a release date set for 27 February 2026.
Players won’t have to wait until launch to get a taste of the terror, though. A playable demo will be available at Gamescom 2025, running from 20 to 24 August in Cologne, Germany.
Back to Raccoon City and it’s more terrifying than ever
Resident Evil Requiem takes us back to the infamous Raccoon City, the birthplace of the outbreak that changed everything. But this isn’t a retelling—it’s a new story built on the series’ roots, with fresh characters, deeper horror, and the kind of atmosphere that gets under your skin.
Built with the RE ENGINE and designed for modern hardware, Requiem brings ultra-realistic visuals that aim to make every tense moment feel uncomfortably real. Think subtle facial expressions, detailed skin textures, and even visible sweat forming under pressure. These aren’t just visual upgrades—they’re part of what makes the game’s tension hit harder than ever.

Capcom promises a game that balances psychological dread with fast-paced action, striking that sweet spot fans of the series have come to expect. From claustrophobic corridors to relentless enemies, every step forward feels like a gamble with your life.

A global horror experience
Resident Evil Requiem will launch with support for an impressive range of languages. Voiceovers will be available in English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Castilian Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Mandarin. Subtitles will also be offered in Korean, Arabic, Polish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Capcom is aiming to deliver a truly global survival horror experience.

First hands-on at Gamescom 2025
The first playable build of Resident Evil Requiem will be featured at Gamescom 2025, marking the first opportunity for the public to experience its gameplay. With a six-month gap between the demo and the official release, fans can expect more reveals, updates, and hopefully a story trailer or two before launch.
