Project Windless could be KRAFTON’s boldest fantasy RPG yet

KRAFTON Montréal has revealed Project Windless, a new open-world action RPG, and it looks ambitious. The game draws from the fantasy universe of The Bird That Drinks Tears by Lee Youngdo. Some fans even compare that world to The Lord of the Rings, which gives a good idea of its scale.

Project Windless – Reveal Trailer

This story acts as a prequel. It takes place around 1,500 years earlier. Players explore the rise of the Hero King and the birth of the Aragit Kingdom. That means fresh lore, fewer limits, and more room for surprises.

Four races shape the world. Humans focus on power and strategy. Tokabi mix humour with dangerous magic. Naga are cold and calculating. Rekkon, the bird-like warriors, look set to be a big gameplay highlight thanks to speed and brute strength.

Combat sounds intense. The team describes it as raw and overwhelming. Large battles are possible because of a new “Mass Entity AI” system. Expect clashes with dozens, sometimes hundreds, of enemies at once.

Authenticity matters too. KRAFTON teams in Pangyo are supporting development to keep the cultural roots intact.

Project Windless is planned as a premium single-player game for PC and consoles. No release window yet, but this one is worth watching.
