Game bio

The Ninja Gaiden series is returning with a brand-new entry after 13 years. Ninja Gaiden 4 brings back the classic fast-paced combat the series is known for, blending it with new features. Players will fight in a transformed, rain-soaked Tokyo, facing dangerous enemies and uncovering a gripping story.

For the first time, players will control a new hero in Ninja Gaiden 4, Yakumo, a young ninja prodigy. However, fans of the series will be glad to hear that the legendary Ryu Hayabusa also plays a big role in the game.

Ninja Gaiden 4 key features

  • Classic combat returns – Enjoy the high-speed action that made Ninja Gaiden famous. Ninja Gaiden 4 combines the signature combat of Team NINJA with the stylish gameplay of PlatinumGames.
  • New abilities – Use Yakumo’s Bloodbind Ninjutsu to transform weapons and unleash devastating attacks. Players can also master fan-favourite techniques like the Izuna Drop and Flying Swallow.
  • A new adventure – Tokyo has been plunged into chaos by the return of an ancient enemy. As Yakumo, players must fight cybernetic ninja soldiers and monstrous creatures to save the city.
  • Bloodraven Form – A new ability that lets Yakumo manipulate blood to create powerful weapons. When conditions are met, Yakumo can use “Bloodbath Kill” to strike down multiple enemies at once.

Why the long wait?

The last mainline Ninja Gaiden game, Ninja Gaiden 3, came out in 2012. According to Team NINJA, the gap was due to a desire to make the next game special. Koei Tecmo’s president, Hisashi Koinuma, and PlatinumGames’ CEO, Atsushi Inaba, worked together on the project, supported by Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming.

What’s new?

Players will notice several changes in Ninja Gaiden 4. New mechanics include rail and wire-based traversal, which keeps the gameplay fast and challenging. The game’s visuals also stand out, with rain playing a major role in setting the dark, cyberpunk-like atmosphere.

The developers have also focused on balancing the game’s difficulty. They’ve drawn inspiration from Ninja Gaiden 2, which many fans consider the best in the series. The goal is to provide challenging but fair combat that rewards skill and strategy.
