The hunt is almost on! Monster Hunter Wilds is just weeks away, and Capcom has unleashed a fresh wave of updates, including a chilling new trailer, details on the second open beta, and some juicy extras like Photo Mode, PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements, and a benchmark tool for PC players. If you’re counting down the days until February 28, here’s everything you need to know.

A frosty new frontier – Iceshard Cliffs

Trailer #6 takes us deep into the Iceshard Cliffs, a frozen and rocky terrain that introduces Monster Hunter Wilds’ latest beast—Hirabami. This Leviathan species has a unique twist: sail-like membranes that let it hover in the air before striking with deadly precision.

But that’s not all! The trailer also brought back two fan favourites: the eerie, web-spinning Nerscylla and the relentless Gore Magala. It’s safe to say veteran hunters are in for a serious challenge.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test 2 – Bigger, better, and a flagship monster fight

If you missed the first beta, here’s your second chance. Capcom has confirmed Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test 2 will run on two separate weekends:

  • February 6 at 7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET – February 9 at 6:59 p.m. PT / 9:59 p.m. ET
  • February 13 at 7:00 p.m. PT / 10:00 p.m. ET – February 16 at 6:59 p.m. PT / 9:59 p.m. ET

This time, players will face off against Arkveld, Wilds’ flagship monster, also known as the “White Wraith.” If that wasn’t enough, the beta is also adding Gypceros, a Training Area at Base Camp, and new online features like Private Lobbies and an Online Single Player mode.

Like the first beta, you’ll get access to character creation (with transferable data to the full game), a story mission, and free-roaming multiplayer hunts. However, balance and performance tweaks announced for launch won’t be in the beta build—so expect a few rough edges.

Extra goodies: Photo Mode, PlayStation 5 Pro support, and PC benchmarking

Beyond the monster-slaying action, Capcom also highlighted some exciting extras. A new Photo Mode will let you capture your best hunting moments, while expanded customisation options promise even more ways to personalise your hunter.

For PlayStation 5 Pro players, Wilds will launch with Enhanced Features, including ray tracing and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for sharper, more immersive visuals. Meanwhile, PC players can now download a benchmark tool via Steam to see how their rig handles the game before launch.

Post-launch event quests incoming

Even after the release, Monster Hunter Wilds won’t be slowing down. Starting one week after launch, limited-time event quests will introduce special armour sets as rewards, with more post-launch updates to follow.
