Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, the latest entry in Insomniac’s beloved superhero saga, is set to launch on PC, bringing a host of new features and enhancements tailored for a more immersive and visually stunning experience. With the game’s arrival just around the corner, Nixxes, the studio behind the PC port, has detailed the technical advancements that will allow players to swing through Marvel’s New York in unprecedented ways.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC leverages advanced ray tracing technology to create a more realistic and dynamic world. With ray-traced reflections, the towering skyscrapers of New York’s skyline come to life as players swing through the city, with reflections appearing on glass surfaces, puddles, and more. The addition of ray-traced shadows and ambient occlusion deepens the atmosphere, bringing added depth to every corner of the city and its interior environments.

For enthusiasts with high-end rigs, the game offers even more detailed ray tracing. A new ray-tracing geometry detail setting enhances the quality of meshes used in reflections, resulting in sharper and more realistic images. Additionally, a ray tracing object range slider allows players to extend the range of ray tracing, ensuring that distant objects are also accounted for in the reflections, further enhancing the game’s realism.

NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction
One of the standout features in this PC release is NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction. Designed to improve ray tracing effects, this technology combines temporal denoising and frame upscaling to preserve fine details that would otherwise be lost. The result is smoother, more detailed reflections, better-defined shadows, and more stable ray-traced interiors.
The game supports two variants of this technology: the original DLSS model, which was first introduced in DLSS 3.5, and a new, more advanced version tailored for RTX 40-series GPUs. This update provides a more stable and visually impressive experience, reducing ghosting and noise, especially in complex scenes viewed from sharp angles.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is also designed with ultra-wide monitor support in mind, accommodating aspect ratios like 21:9, 32:9, and even 48:9 with triple-monitor setups. Cinematics have been optimised to ensure they display correctly across these wide configurations, maintaining the cinematic experience while taking full advantage of expansive screen real estate.

On the performance front, the game supports a wide array of upscaling technologies, including NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel XeSS. These technologies boost performance by upscaling lower-resolution images without sacrificing visual fidelity, ensuring smooth gameplay even on lower-end systems.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is engineered to scale down for older hardware as well. For players with less powerful systems, the game provides a suite of settings to reduce graphical demands. These options include the ability to disable ray tracing and the inclusion of dynamic resolution scaling, which automatically adjusts the game’s resolution to maintain a stable frame rate during demanding moments.
Editions and early unlocks
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch with two editions: the Standard Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition (DDE). The DDE includes additional content, and players who already own the Standard Edition will have the option to upgrade. Both editions come with exclusive PC Purchase Perks, including early unlocks of special suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, such as the Arachknight Suit and the Shadow-Spider Suit. Additionally, players will receive bonus skill points and gadgets, offering even more opportunities for customization.
Players who choose to connect their PlayStation Network accounts will also be rewarded with extra bonuses, including the exclusive Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and Miles Morales 2099 Suit, along with other in-game trophies and rewards.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to redefine the superhero gaming experience on PC, delivering cutting-edge ray tracing, immersive visuals, and a host of performance options to cater to a wide range of systems. Whether you’re running a high-end PC or a more modest setup, the game offers an experience tailored to your hardware, ensuring smooth gameplay and stunning visuals.
With the combined efforts of Insomniac and Nixxes, the PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 promises to be a visual and technological showcase, offering both veteran fans and newcomers an unforgettable experience. The game launches on January 30, and with the exciting array of new features, it’s clear that this is one title that will push the boundaries of what’s possible on PC.
