With just over a week to go before launch, Marathon is climbing the Steam Top Sellers chart fast. Bungie’s extraction shooter is not even out yet, but it is already sitting near the very top of the platform’s sales rankings.
Marathon ranks third in the United States and sixth in the United Kingdom. That is a strong position for a game that players have not fully jumped into yet.
It has even pushed past ARC Raiders, the extraction shooter from Embark Studios, which has been out for nearly three months. That alone says a lot about the current hype.

Marathon surges up Steam Top Sellers ahead of launch
The interesting part is who Marathon is sitting above. It is currently ahead of major multiplayer titles like Helldivers 2, Marvel Rivals, and Apex Legends. The only games above it right now are Resident Evil Requiem, which launches tomorrow, and Counter-Strike 2.
That momentum did not come easy. Bungie has had a rough road. Executive departures and plagiarism concerns created doubts around the project. For a while, the mood around the game felt uncertain.

Now, things look different. A server slam test is happening this weekend, giving players one last hands-on session before launch on 5 March 2026.
If this early chart performance is any sign, Marathon could be heading into release with serious heat behind it.
