Mafia: The Old Country has gone gold, developer Hangar 13 has announced. The game is now complete and on track for its scheduled launch on 8 August 2025. With the core development wrapped up, the team is now focused on final polish to ensure the best possible experience at release.
The game is a prequel and marks the first brand-new Mafia title since 2016. While fans have seen a remake of the original game and remasters of the second and third entries, The Old Country is the first fresh addition to the series in nearly a decade.

Hangar 13 is working closely with Italian studio Stormind Games to create a world that feels true to its setting. The developers aim to make the journey through Italy an immersive and authentic one.
“Our priority has always been to ensure that everything in the game feels authentic,” said Salvo Fallica, senior project manager at Stormind Games.
“The details are absolutely key in keeping the immersion of the player,” added Matthew Aitken, lead writer at Hangar 13.
Several gameplay clips and developer updates have already shown the attention to detail being poured into this project. The studio is calling it “the best-looking Mafia game” to date.
