CI Games is not holding back when talking about Lords of the Fallen 2. The studio says the sequel will be its “Empire Strikes Back” moment, aiming for something darker and more ambitious than the 2023 reboot.

The 2014 original carved out a space in the crowded soulslike genre but never reached the heights of its peers. The reboot, almost a decade late, showed promise but launched with major problems.

After a year of updates and a full “2.0” overhaul, the game won back many players. That recovery has given CI Games the confidence to push ahead with a follow-up planned for 2026.

Lords of the Fallen 2 promises a darker sequel

In an interview with MP1st, creative strategist David Valjalo teased what’s coming. He described the project as “bloody, bold, brave” and a sequel that not only builds on the reboot but carries its spirit forward. Valjalo emphasised that the tone will be darker, the world more unique, and the stakes higher than ever. For him, Lords of the Fallen 2 is the studio’s Empire Strikes Back – or for a newer generation, their Dark Knight.

The comments arrive alongside CI Games’ decision to permanently lower prices across its catalogue, part of what it calls a “player first” strategy. It’s a move some view as a way of regaining trust after the difficult 2023 launch.

With Lords of the Fallen 2 on the horizon, CI Games is betting that its next chapter will define the series for years to come.
