Katanaut, a side-scrolling roguelite with Metroidvania flavour, is out now on PC via Steam – and it’s arriving with a surprise. Publisher Acclaim has stepped out of the shadows to take charge of its release, teaming with developer Voidmaw for the launch.
For a limited time, players can grab Katanaut at a launch discount of $14.39 (£11.99).

A collapsing station, fast combat, and no checkpoints
Set in a dying space station, Katanaut mixes handcrafted rooms with procedural chaos. Every run shifts the layout, forcing players to adapt on the fly. There are no checkpoints. Death means starting over, but each attempt brings new knowledge, abilities, and a chance to forge a different path.

Combat stays sharp and quick. Melee strikes, ranged attacks, and a stack of unlockable abilities give players plenty of tools to experiment with. Bosses hit harder as the runs progress, pushing reflexes and strategy to the limit.
The game leans on pixel art and a synthwave soundtrack to sell its eerie blend of cyberpunk tech and eldritch horror. Hidden NPCs, secrets, and elite challenges add more reason to dig deep into each run.
