Sony Interactive Entertainment and Naughty Dog have revealed their latest project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. This new franchise has been in development since 2020 and is being directed by Neil Druckmann, the creative mind behind The Last of Us and Uncharted.

A glimpse into the story

Set thousands of years in the future, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet takes players to the mysterious planet of Sempiria. You’ll step into the shoes of Jordan A. Mun, a skilled bounty hunter who finds herself stranded on this distant world. Sempiria hasn’t communicated with the rest of the universe for over 600 years, and every traveller who’s tried to uncover its secrets has disappeared without a trace.

Players will guide Jordan as she uses her wits and expertise to survive and, hopefully, become the first person in centuries to escape Sempiria’s orbit.

The studio’s boldest game yet

According to Neil Druckmann, Intergalactic will be Naughty Dog’s “wildest, most creative story yet.” The game promises to deliver a gripping, emotional journey combined with the studio’s deepest gameplay mechanics to date.

“Everything about the story is under wraps for now,” said Druckmann. “But this game will push our narrative and gameplay ambitions further than anything we’ve done before.”

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet: A star-studded cast and music team

Jordan A. Mun is voiced by Tati Gabrielle, known for her performances in television and film. Naughty Dog has also teased an impressive ensemble cast, with more details to be shared in the future.

To complement the cosmic setting, the soundtrack is being composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, whose music will bring an atmospheric edge to the adventure.

Neil Druckmann closed the announcement by thanking fans: “Your support allows us to work on our dream games. We can’t wait to show you more.”

Intergalactic; The Heretic Prophet is currently in development exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
