Goblin Cleanup mops its way into Early Access – Blood, traps, and all

Ever wondered what happens after the heroes storm a dungeon, loot the chests, and slay the monsters? Someone has to clean up the mess. Enter Goblin Cleanup, the new co-op sim from Crisalu Games and Team17 Digital, which has just launched into Early Access on Steam. It’s messy, it’s ridiculous, and it might be the first time “Goblin Maid” has been a legitimate job title.

The premise is as simple as it is absurd: up to four players don their goblin overalls and get to work restoring a dungeon after a nightmarish raid. That means scrubbing away adventurer guts, mopping endless pools of blood, resetting spikes and traps, and even respawning the odd monster. It’s equal parts parody and party game, and yes, the dungeon itself can kill you long before it’s clean.

Cleaning chaos, goblin-style

Players have an arsenal of tools and spells to keep the carnage under control, from the Slimop (your trusty mop) to mimic chests and slime dispensers for sticky situations. But this isn’t just about cleaning – you’ll also be restoring furniture, reloading treasure chests, and reactivating traps, all while dodging the ones that never triggered.

Some creatures still roam the halls, too, which means even your janitorial duties could turn deadly. You can’t kill anything in Goblin Cleanup, but everything else certainly can kill you.

Dungeons by design

Crisalu Games promises handcrafted dungeons put together by their so-called “craft-gnomes,” each one packed with traps, loot, and a worrying amount of viscera. The result is a dungeon-crawling experience flipped on its head: instead of chasing loot, you’re refilling it. Instead of killing monsters, you’re resurrecting them. Instead of glory, you’re chasing a spotless floor.

Goblin Cleanup Early Access launch

Goblin Cleanup is available now on Steam for £19.99 / $19.99 / €19.99, with a 20% launch discount running for the first two weeks. If the launch trailer is anything to go by, this might just be the weirdest co-op experience of the year, and that’s exactly why it deserves your attention.
