Today, we are taking you on a journey with our latest hardware review, the EasySMX X05 Wireless Controller. In the world of electronics, sometimes you have to be a bit weary when the price of a product seems too good to be true. However, with the EasySMX X05 Wireless Controller, this is not the case. While the X05 comes in at a silly £24 currently, it offers some pretty amazing features and has a solid build quality to it.

EasySMX may not be a name you have heard of before but it is one you will want to check out. EasySMX offers a range of budget-friendly controllers that all seem to receive high praise from anyone who has used them. As EasySMX has set out to prove, sometimes cheaper controllers can be just as good, if not better, as the more expensive ones.

Design and ergonomics

The X05 controller looks like your standard Xbox controller in terms of its shape and layout. This is my preferred controller type so all is well there. If you prefer PlayStation-type controllers, this may not be the one for you. The X05 weighs 218g and is 13.70 x 6.70 x 17.40 cm in size. It features a USB-C connector for charging and connecting to a PC but is also compatible with other devices.

Using the controller for longer periods caused no strain on my fingers, hands, or wrists. The lightweight design is a pleasure to use and I even find it a bit more comfortable than my official Xbox controller. All of the sticks, buttons, and trickers are right where they need to be and they all seem to offer a good response. Whether you are jumping into a game like SERUM, or having some fun with Fall Guys, the X05 is more than ready to help you along your way.

Functionality and performance

The X05 features Hall effect joysticks for precise movement and long-lasting durability, which reduces stick drift issues over time. The controller has adjustable sensitivity, customizable turbo buttons, and a responsive D-pad. Vibration feedback and ergonomic design improve gameplay comfort, making it ideal for both casual and competitive players. It’s wireless, rechargeable, and designed for low latency, delivering smooth and immersive gaming performance across different devices.

Using the X05 controller for a couple of weeks now and I have not yet run into any issues with it. The connection to any device is a breeze. The Hall effect sticks not only stop stick drift but also give you precise control over movement at the most critical of times. The only thing the X05 is missing is some extra back triggers, but for the price, we can’t fault it for not having them.

Connectivity

The X05 controller has 3 connectivity options, 2.4 GHz wireless via the included dongle, Bluetooth, and the standard wired connection. It is compatible with Nintendo Switch/Lite/OLED, Windows 7-11, and even Android and IOS. While it is a shame it is not compatible with Xbox and Playstation, not everything can be made for everyone, so we won’t hold this against EasySMX, it’s just something to note in case you are looking for a controller to use with those devices.

Value for money

This is going to be the biggest place that the EasyXMS X05 shines. For just £24, this controller is insane! People pay almost this much to have their old controllers converted to Hall effect sticks and the X05 already has them. You are going to be hard-pressed to find a controller that has all the features of the X05 and delivers on the performance side of things. Most seem to cut corners to keep the price down but EasySMX has shown that a good controller doesn’t need to cost the earth!

Overall thoughts on the X05 Wireless Controller

If you are looking for a standard controller to enjoy some games with, the X05 is a great option. It comes at an affordable price and has all the features most gamers will need. From hall effect sticks and triggers to Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity options, the X05 is truly one of the best budget controllers we have ever seen.

The X05 is also enjoyable to use for longer periods thanks to its design and lightweight. The Vibration modes provide good feedback and the RGB effects add a bit of style to the overall aesthetic. Also, it does come in a couple of different color variants if white is not your thing!
