The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is getting a new expansion. It’s called Durin’s Folk, and it’s coming in Q4 2025. The announcement was made during the Middle-earth: The Adventure Ahead panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

A short teaser was shown. It features a group of dwarves opening a massive door inside a huge, empty hall. Voice-overs play over the scene. One says, “Khazad-dûm is the home of Durin’s Folk.” Khazad-dûm is another name for Moria. So, the expansion may go deeper into the game’s main story.

What’s coming in Return to Moria’s new DLC

The Steam post gives a few clues. The update will expand the end-game story and add new mechanics. It also promises “many unrevealed secrets.” Nothing specific yet, but it seems focused on late-game content.

The base game launched in 2023. It had a weak start. Critics gave it a 59 on Metacritic. Players gave it a 6.8. Over time, though, the game improved. It now has a very positive rating on Steam.

The survival mechanics and crafting loop were solid. But it lacked polish and depth at launch. This new expansion could fix that.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is out now on PS5, Xbox, and PC. More news on Durin’s Folk should follow in the coming months.
