Donkey Kong Bananza had a strong UK launch. It beat all previous DK games in physical sales. But it didn’t reach Super Mario Odyssey levels.
Christopher Dring, founder of Game Business, said Bananza’s launch was three times bigger than Tropical Freeze. Still, it was less than half of Odyssey’s opening.

The chart data covers UK physical sales only. It doesn’t include digital copies. But physical sales still matter, especially for Nintendo fans.


Donkey Kong’s new hit draws clear Odyssey comparisons
The game only came out a few days ago. Full sales numbers will come later. For now, it’s a solid start for DK’s return.
The Bananza team includes devs who worked on Odyssey. That explains the gameplay style. Both games share a lot in feel and design.
