Crimson Desert has crossed a major milestone. The upcoming open-world action adventure has now passed two million wishlists across all platforms, according to Pearl Abyss.
That number alone shows how much interest the game has built over the years. Big fantasy open-world releases have been rare lately, and the game is aiming high.
The wishlist news comes alongside fresh comments from the developer. Pearl Abyss is still sharing small updates as the March 19 launch date gets closer. Just days ago, the studio talked about the large amount of side content waiting beyond the main story.
Crimson Desert sits between story and freedom
Now, PR Director Will Powers has offered more insight in a new interview on YouTube with Luke Stephens. During the discussion, Stephens suggested the game felt closer to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild than The Witcher 3. Powers disagreed.
According to him, Crimson Desert sits right between the two. It has a strong central story with cinematic cutscenes, but it is not as story-heavy as The Witcher 3. Player freedom still plays a big role.

Matching those classics is a huge challenge. Still, even getting close would be a win for Pearl Abyss.
