CannonKeys has officially shared full details and pricing for its upcoming compact mechanical keyboard called Bullet Train. Known for creating unique and enthusiast-focused keyboards, the company continues that trend with this new small and portable design.

The Bullet Train follows what many fans call a “40%-ish” layout. It is smaller than a regular keyboard but still keeps a useful number row from 1 to 6 placed on the top left side. This layout is often called V4N4G0N and is popular among users who want a tiny keyboard without losing gaming comfort.

Even though the keyboard is very small, it is made with premium materials. The case is built from aluminium, giving it a strong and solid feel. The keyboard also uses a low-profile design, which helps keep it thin and easy to carry. This makes it a good option for travel or desk setups where space is limited.

By default, the Bullet Train comes with an FR4 plate. According to CannonKeys, this material helps improve wireless signal strength. For users who want a different typing feel, aluminium and polycarbonate plates will be available later as optional extras.

The keyboard supports both wired and wireless use. While the company has not confirmed the wireless method yet, it is expected to use Bluetooth, as CannonKeys often prefers ZMK firmware for wireless boards. There will also be a wired-only version that uses QMK firmware. Both versions support hot-swap sockets, so users can easily change switches without soldering. The keyboard works with Gateron KS-33 low-profile V2 switches.

One interesting design choice is the flat 0-degree typing angle. This keeps the keyboard completely level on the desk. Another unusual feature is the split space bar, which includes a small 1.25u key in the middle. While it may look strange at first, this layout helps make better use of space on such a small keyboard.

The Bullet Train will be available in black, dark green, lilac, pink, and silver. All colours use anodised finishes, giving them a clean and premium look.

CannonKeys Bullet Train mechanical keyboard pricing and availability

CannonKeys will launch the Bullet Train as a group buy on February 5. The wired hot-swap version starts at $170, while the wireless version is priced at $200. The keyboard is sold as a DIY kit, so buyers will need to provide their own switches and keycaps. However, the company often offers bundle deals with compatible parts at a lower price during launches.

With its smart layout, solid build, and flexible connectivity options, the Bullet Train looks like a strong choice for keyboard fans who want something small but powerful.
