Borderlands 4 has finally added the photo mode that Gearbox talked about before launch. It comes as part of the game’s first major update, landing almost five months after release.

The new photo mode gives players plenty of freedom. You can move the camera around, tweak the field of view, and adjust depth of field. Filters are included, too. The scene itself is customisable, letting you change the time of day, hide or add characters and NPCs, and turn damage numbers on or off. It is clearly built for players who enjoy sharing their best moments.

Borderlands 4 update brings balance tweaks and quality-of-life fixes

The January 29 update does more than just visuals. Several fixes improve how quests and challenges track progress. The changes make objectives easier to follow and less confusing during long play sessions. Ultimate Vault Hunter mode also gets a boost, with higher dedicated drop rates to make grinding feel more worthwhile.

Harlowe’s Zero-Point action skill has been reworked as well. Gearbox says the aim was better balance and stronger impact. The base skill now includes benefits from the old Inertia augment, with higher slam damage and improved status effects. Amon and Vex have also seen small damage tweaks to make them feel more reliable.

2K also shared a new 2026 roadmap for Borderlands 4. It includes new Bounty Packs, paid Story DLCs, free major updates, pearlescent rarity, and ongoing fixes. Cross-save support and shared progression are also planned.
