Marvel Rivals is getting a major mid-season update on August 8, 2025, with NetEase confirming new content, character changes, and stronger penalties for disruptive players.
This update introduces Blade as a new playable character and revamps several team-ups. A second wave of content arrives on August 22, bringing a new mode, Resource Rumble, and a new map, Throne of Knull.
Blade joins the Lunar Force team-up with Moon Knight and Cloak & Dagger. Two team-ups, Guardian Revival and Atlas Bond, are being removed entirely. Loki is being cut from Ragnarok Rebirth, which now features Hela and Thor.
Two new team-ups are being added: Duality Dance with Adam Warlock and Luna Snow, and Vibrant Vitality with Mantis, Groot, and Loki. Iron Fist joins Chilling Assault, while Star-Lord is added to Rocket Network.

Harsher penalties and voice chat monitoring take effect in Marvel Rivals
The update also introduces measures to reduce toxic behaviour. Voice chat will be monitored more closely, and a custom text filter will allow players to mute specific words. Players who quit competitive matches will receive longer bans and harsher point deductions.
Teams left with a missing player will receive compensation after the match, and players disconnected due to crashes or connection issues can expect faster appeal reviews.

While Marvel Rivals has seen a drop in daily players since its launch, it still maintains a strong core audience.
This update is part of NetEase’s ongoing effort to keep the game competitive and improve player experience.
