Electronic Arts is slowly lifting the curtain on its next big entry in the Battlefield series, currently referred to as Battlefield Next. While the full reveal is still a few months away, EA has confirmed that the new game will be officially presented this summer. However, there’s still no word on whether the debut will take place during Summer Game Fest or a dedicated EA Showcase.
During a recent earnings call with investors, Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, offered a few more insights into the game’s development and direction. According to Wilson, Battlefield Next is not only in active development, but also has a set release window. While no fixed date was shared, Wilson confirmed that the game is planned to be revealed within the current fiscal year, meaning we should expect a formal announcement or showcase by March 2026 at the latest, though it could arrive much sooner.
Wilson described the upcoming title as a “great opportunity” for EA, highlighting that it’s being built to meet fan expectations with a strong emphasis on “innovation and scale.” This suggests that the next Battlefield could take the franchise in a new direction, possibly learning from past mistakes while introducing fresh ideas to the core gameplay experience.
One of the most important developments surrounding Battlefield Next is the team working behind the scenes. Multiple studios have been brought together to ensure the game lives up to its potential. These include DICE, the franchise’s original developer, Ripple Effect Studios, known for creating the Portal mode in Battlefield 2042, and Criterion, which has been recently restructured to focus fully on the Battlefield series. The collaboration between these teams signals EA’s strong commitment to the future of the franchise.
Wilson also pointed out that EA is “very excited” about the current progress and that the new Battlefield is being designed to remain relevant over time. This means long-term support, ongoing updates, and a strong focus on online multiplayer—likely a reaction to the backlash Battlefield 2042 received at launch for its lack of polish and missing features.
Since the disappointing reception of BF 2042, EA has been working hard to rebuild trust within the community. The company’s approach with Battlefield Next appears much more cautious and deliberate, with clear signs of increased testing, restructuring, and collaboration.
