The rivalry between Battlefield and Call of Duty has lasted more than a decade, with both shooters constantly pushing each other on scale, visuals, and features. This time, however, the latest clash has nothing to do with gameplay. Instead, it is all about art.

A Battlefield 6 skull skin that looks too familiar

With the release of Battlefield 6’s “Battlefield Pro” battle pass, players quickly noticed an Objective Ace skin that looked strikingly similar to the iconic mask from Call of Duty: Ghosts. Side-by-side comparisons spread fast, and the similarities were hard to ignore.

Skull designs are common in shooters, but fans argue this one goes beyond a generic look. The skull’s jawline tapers into sharp points at the base, a visible crack runs across the lower half, and there is even a distinct damage mark above the right eyebrow. To many players, these are not vague resemblances but very specific design details.

That has sparked debate over whether Battlefield 6 is paying tribute or stepping too close to copying. Neither EA nor Activision has commented so far, but the backlash suggests many players believe EA should have used a clearly different design.

The timing has only made things worse. Battlefield recently faced criticism over a sticker bundle that players accused of looking like AI-generated art. With concerns already surrounding EA’s use of AI, this new controversy adds more pressure around originality and trust.

Whether this becomes a legal issue remains unclear, but the player response is already telling.
