Layoffs have reportedly hit several studios behind Battlefield 6, despite the game being one of the biggest releases of 2025.
A report claims that EA has cut an unknown number of jobs across teams working on the game. The affected studios include Criterion, DICE, and Motive Studio. The publisher has not shared how many developers have been impacted.
The timing is surprising. Battlefield 6 launched last October and quickly became one of the best-selling AAA games on PC and consoles. It even topped sales charts in the United States during its release window.

Battlefield 6 layoffs come during studio “realignment”
According to the report, developers were told the layoffs are part of a wider “realignment” across all Battlefield studios. However, EA has not explained what that means or how the teams will change moving forward.
Post-launch support for the game has also faced criticism. Season 2 arrived later than planned, as the developers wanted extra time to polish the update. Even then, players were not fully satisfied.
Many fans pointed out that the new maps feel smaller than those in earlier Battlefield games. Series producer Philipp Girette later acknowledged the feedback and confirmed that larger maps are planned.

With layoffs now affecting the teams behind Battlefield 6, it remains unclear how future updates will be impacted.
