The grandfather clock is ticking…clue-in to the “radishes of time” to participate in the September 15 Kickstarter campaign launch of Epic Scale Games’ Automated Alice, a cooperative dice placement game based on the novel of the same name by author Jeff Noon. Backers who support the Automated Alice campaign launch within the first 48 hours will receive a free collectable Quark Cheshire Cat first player token.
Automated Alice was written as a “trequel” that follows Lewis Carroll’s popular heroine from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and Through the Looking-Glass (1871). In this more recent 1996 tale, Alice and her doll, Celia, chase Great Aunt Ermintrude’s naughty parrot, Whippoorwill, through a magical grandfather clock and find themselves travelling through time.
They emerge in an alternate modern Wonderland in the form of Manchester England circa 1998. In this Wonderland, however, outsider Alice encounters a whole new world of imaginative characters including her transformed doll – now the titular Automated Alice, and a host of Newmonians – human-animal hybrids, plus storied favourites including vanishing felines, as she is named a prime suspect in a series of “Jigsaw Murders” and is tasked with solving them to clear her name in order to return home before time runs out.
In Epic Scale Games’ Automated Alice, players collectively take on the role of Alice while trying to match coloured dice to specific goals listed on the evidence cards. Watch out for Mrs Minus and her Civil Serpent dice, as they will try to block your path. Perk cards and unique character abilities will help Alice on her journey. With multiple lose conditions like the Civil Serpent Threat Tracker, limited round timer or running out of assets, this will not be an easy task. Are you ready to roll the dice and help Alice on her latest, greatest adventure?
Automated Alice backers can choose different pledge levels of support. The campaign will also offer an abundance of coveted extras in the form of stretch goals based on funding and social media milestones.
