Respawn Entertainment has dropped the gameplay trailer for Apex Legends: Prodigy, launching May 6, and it’s packed with major updates, starting with a fresh new Legend: Sparrow.

Meet Sparrow – Double jumps and deadly arrows

Sparrow, real name Enea Davide Guarino, comes from a legendary bounty hunter clan known for archery. Disowned after clashing with their strict code, he joins the Apex Games to prove himself. For the first two weeks, Sparrow will be free to try, with unlock challenges testing your skills.

His kit:

  • Passive – Double Jump: Leap again in mid-air or launch off walls.
  • Tactical – Tracker Dart: Reveals enemies passing through its zone.
  • Ultimate – Stinger Bolt: Fires a charged arrow that creates a damage field.

Ranked system revamped

In Apex Legends, your starting rank now reflects past performance, with no Bronze reset for inactive players. Ranked Challenges and Ladders offer fresh rewards to grind.

Behind the scenes

This update follows layoffs at Respawn, impacting both the Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi teams. Two early projects, including a Titanfall-style extraction shooter, were cancelled.
