The 5 Best Video Game to Casino Game Crossovers

The history of gaming is littered with examples of crossovers to and from movies and television. Sometimes it works – Star Wars Battlefront, GoldenEye – and other times it doesn’t – Tomorrow Never Dies, Sopranos: Road to Respect. But it’s always fairly interesting to see when a games developer tries to adapt something, even if it doesn’t work out the way that fans wanted.

It’s actually quite common for developers of casino games to turn to video games as source material, but the crossovers results can also be mixed. However, from time to time, the developers really catch lightning in a bottle and create video game-inspired casino titles that dazzle players. A good game can have a two-fold effect, pleasing casino players and drawing in new players who were fans of the original game.

Obviously, we’d recommend being cautious when playing any casino game even with big wins available, and you should only ever gamble what you can afford to lose. Indeed, it’s worth noting that many games can be played in demo mode. Check out where to play online slots. Below we pick out five of the best casino creation video games crossovers:

Lara Croft: Temples and Tombs

Lara Croft: Temples and Tombs is the third casino game based on the Tomb Raider series, and one of the best slots to play online today. Developed by Microgaming, it boasts video game quality graphics and some very decent gameplay. The main draw of the game is the three-pronged jackpot feature, but there are also big wins available in the free spins bonus and with the rolling reels feature. Top stuff.

Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior Slot

No casino game developer has gone as far as NetEnt with crossovers when immersing the video game source material in this Street Fighter slot. The game looks – and plays – exactly like the hugely popular 90s arcade version of Street Fighter 2. Choose from characters like Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li. Beat the bosses like M. Bison and Vega. You can even smash up the car for cash in a bonus game. The attention to detail is really impressive from NetEnt, and our only criticism would be that the gameplay usurps some of the classic slot features. But it’s still a cracking game, and it’s a must for fans of the Capcom classic.

Based on the Hitman Agent 47 games, Hitman slot is not going to win any awards for graphics. In fact, the look of the slot attests to the fact that it’s a bit dated (it was released all the way back in 2007). Nevertheless, it’s something of a classic, and it was ahead of its time when it comes to special features and gameplay. Created by Microgaming, Hitman is a good beginner slot for those who haven’t played at an online casino before.

Resident Evil 6 Slot

Skywind is an up-and-coming developer of casino games, and it has really made a splash with its slot machine based on everyone’s favourite zombie game franchise. This a truly innovative casino game, with split-screen action separating the slot play from missions for the game’s characters. They talk a lot about casino games resembling video games more and more these days; with crossovers like this Resident Evil slot, that’s almost literally the case.

Call of Duty Slot

Like Hitman, Call of Duty Slot has been around for over a decade. And, like Hitman, it can feel a little bit dated when compared with modern offerings, especially video game crossovers. However, it’s bags of fun seeing soldiers run on screen to lob grenades to bequeath you with cash prizes. The bonus free spins can also be very lucrative. A real winner from Cryptologic, and we expect that there will be a big-budget sequel coming to online casinos soon.
