Xbox is starting 2026 with the return of Developer Direct on January 22. The showcase will air at 6pm UK time and promises new gameplay, updates, and insights straight from the studios behind some of Xbox’s most important releases.
The event continues Xbox’s developer-first approach, with creators talking through their games directly. It also arrives during Xbox’s 25th anniversary year, making this edition feel like a statement for what’s coming next.
The biggest presence comes from Playground Games, with two major projects on the show. The studio will share the first extended gameplay look at Fable, marking a fresh beginning for the long-running series. You can expect choice-driven storytelling, action-heavy moments, and the series’ trademark British humour.

Three very different games, one focused showcase in the upcoming Developer Direct
Forza Horizon 6 will also make its gameplay debut. Still led by Playground Games, the open-world racer is set in Japan. The team will show how the country’s varied environments shape driving, alongside new features and mechanics.
The showcase then heads to Tokyo for Beast of Reincarnation from Game Freak. This action RPG follows Emma and her dog companion, Koo, in a post-apocalyptic Japan. Gameplay will focus on plant-based abilities, combat, and exploration.

Developer Direct streams live on January 22.
