If you’ve been waiting for a new dark fantasy action RPG to scratch that Soulslike itch, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers might be your next obsession. Set to launch on 24 July, this haunting epic from Leenzee Games and 505 Games is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. The best part? It’s also dropping day one on Game Pass.

At £44.99 ($49.99 / €49.99), Wuchang: Fallen Feathers offers a full-fat dark fantasy experience without breaking the bank. And if you want the full deluxe drip, there’s a £49.99 Deluxe Edition loaded with bonus gear and weapons.

Pre-order goodies and Deluxe Edition content

Pre-orders unlock the Night & White Pack, which includes:

  • Night Spectre Enhanced Costume Set (five pieces)
  • White Spectre Enhanced Costume Set (five pieces)
  • Vermillion War Club (a brutal axe)
  • Glistening Red Mercury, a special skill upgrade item

And for those going all-in with the Deluxe Edition (£49.99), you’ll get:

  • Four exclusive costumes: Tiger of Fortune, Draconic Resurgence, Soul Ritual Robe, and Overlord’s Regalia
  • Four unique weapons: Watcher’s Gaze (Sword), Dragoncoil Lance (Spear), Eternal Sovereignty (Dual Blades), and Moonlight Dragon (Sword)
  • The Blood of Changhong, another skill-enhancing item

It’s a solid haul for fans who love a bit of fashion, souls, and combat variety.

Souls-like roots meet Chinese mythology

Set during the grim final years of the Ming Dynasty, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers blends real-world Chinese history with twisted myth. You play as Wuchang, a pirate warrior cursed with a disease called Feathering, which mutates her body in grotesque ways. She wakes up with no memory and only her blade, skill, and instinct to guide her through the crumbling land of Shu.

Combat is what you’d expect from a good Soulslike—precise, deliberate, and satisfying. But Wuchang puts its spin on the formula with Red Mercury, a rare material used to unlock new abilities and upgrade your skill tree. Fallen enemies become your path to power, with each victory giving you more tools to shape your fighting style.

Weapons can also be enchanted, adding another layer of build depth and strategy. Whether you’re a heavy-hitter, agile slasher, or something in between, the game gives you room to experiment and refine your approach.

A decaying world and branching story

The environments in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers are packed with detail, dense forests, forgotten temples, ruined cities, and cursed battlegrounds. It’s a world steeped in mystery and death, where every corner could hold a new enemy or a hidden truth.

Your choices throughout the game will shape Wuchang’s fate. Multiple endings are determined by what you uncover, who you trust, and the secrets you piece together from her lost past.

With high-fidelity visuals, brutal combat, and a rich narrative inspired by ancient Chinese folklore, this looks like one of the more ambitious indie Soulslikes in recent years. And with Game Pass support at launch, it’s easy to try.

Is Wuchang worth waiting for?

If you’re into Sekiro, Nioh, or Lies of P, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is worth putting on your radar. The unique setting, lore-heavy worldbuilding, and customisable combat make it more than just a clone, it’s a proper contender.
