Point, click, and roar – Theropods brings prehistoric puzzles and cinematic pixel art to Steam Next Fest

Dinosaurs, mystery, and wordless storytelling come together in Theropods, a striking new point-and-click adventure from Dionous Games and Lost Token—and it’s ready to debut its brand-new demo at Steam Next Fest on June 9.

Set in a world where humans and dinosaurs coexist, Theropods trades dialogue trees for raw visual storytelling. You’ll guide a flame-haired heroine through lush jungles, escape towering predators, and piece together a quiet, strange tale told entirely through animation and mood. It’s an experience that feels like a love letter to the golden era of ‘90s adventure games, only sharper, smoother, and bolder.

A prehistoric puzzle adventure with sci-fi bite

What starts as a simple survival story quickly evolves into something more unexpected. With intuitive, streamlined controls and puzzles that challenge without coddling, Theropods invites players into a cinematic world where danger and beauty go hand in hand.

Created frame-by-frame and pixel-by-pixel, every animation in Theropods is hand-drawn, then converted into lush, expressive pixel art. There’s no dialogue. No tutorials. Just you, your instincts, and the primal world you’ve dropped into.

Theropods - Clifftop

Theropods key features:

  • Prehistoric Puzzle Solving – Navigate deadly environments filled with dinosaurs and natural hazards.
  • Cinematic Pixel Art – Handcrafted visuals bring emotional depth to every scene.
  • Modern Point-and-Click Mechanics – All the charm of classic adventures, with updated controls and zero hand-holding.
  • A Story With Teeth – What begins in the Stone Age slowly unravels into a sci-fi mystery full of surprises.

Developed over nearly a decade, Theropods was born from a game jam back in 2015. Its developers, Kostas Skiftas and Sarah Duffield-Harding, have weathered setbacks and challenges along the way, powered by belief in the project’s heart and voice.

“The game never stopped evolving,” they explain. “Every setback taught us something, and every step forward made the world feel more alive.”

The demo goes live on June 9, just in time for Steam Next Fest, and offers players a first hands-on look at the game’s tone, puzzles, and beautifully strange setting. A full launch is expected later in 2025, with console and mobile versions also planned.

Get your torch ready. The dinosaurs are waiting.
