Frogwares has officially announced The Sinking City Remastered for PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC. And if you already own the game on these platforms, good news—you’re getting a free upgrade. No release date yet, but the first details are here.

A fresh coat of eldritch horror
Originally, The Sinking City was released in 2019 on Unreal Engine 4, this remaster fully embraces Unreal Engine 5, promising a visual overhaul and long-requested quality-of-life improvements. Here’s what’s new:
- Full relighting in Unreal Engine 5—expect moodier, more atmospheric environments.
- Enhanced locations—more details, more objects, more things lurking in the shadows.
- 4K textures and improved reflections—sharper visuals, deeper immersion.
- Photo Mode—capture every eerie moment.
- DLSS, FSR, and TSR upscaling support—better performance without sacrificing detail.
Comparison screenshots show just how much the remaster improves on the original, and official gameplay footage is on the way.

Don’t forget the sequel!
Meanwhile, The Sinking City 2 is still in the works, and its Kickstarter campaign ends in just five days. The team is pushing for a stretch goal that introduces a new version of the Shoggoth, because eldritch horrors can always get scarier. If you want to support the sequel, now’s the time.
