The Rogue Prince of Persia has just dropped out of nowhere on PS5 and Xbox, and yes, it’s on Xbox Game Pass from day one. The reveal came during Xbox’s Gamescom 2025 showcase, making it one of the event’s biggest surprises, even if fans already knew a launch was planned for August.
The Rogue Prince of Persia launch trailer
This 2D roguelite has been in Early Access since May 2024, steadily building a reputation as one of the genre’s most exciting new entries. Developed by Evil Empire, the studio that helped bring Dead Cells to life, and published by Ubisoft, it combines sharp platforming with fast, satisfying combat. Players who have been holding out for the full release can now jump straight into the polished 1.0 version.

The console launch doesn’t end here, either. A Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 release is also lined up for later this year, widening the game’s reach even further.
With its mix of roguelite replayability and classic Prince of Persia flair, this one looks set to win over both veterans of the genre and newcomers looking for their next obsession.
