Rockstar Games may have quietly granted a terminally ill fan their final wish: to play Grand Theft Auto VI before release.
Back in December, Ubisoft Toronto developer Anthony Armstrong shared a heartfelt LinkedIn post. He revealed that a close family member had been battling cancer for years and had been given just six to twelve months to live. Sadly, the timeline meant they might not survive long enough to play GTA 6, a game they had waited years for.
Armstrong explained that the family member lives close to Rockstar’s Oakville studio. He reached out publicly, asking if an early play session could be arranged. He also made it clear that he understood the need for strict secrecy and NDAs.

Rockstar responds with ‘great news’ for GTA 6 fan
Weeks later, Armstrong updated the post with hopeful news. He confirmed that Take-Two Interactive’s CEO had personally reached out. Soon after, he shared a final update, saying they had spoken to Rockstar and received “great news”. No further details were provided.
Shortly after that update, the LinkedIn post was deleted. Many believe this was due to legal reasons, as the message strongly hinted that GTA 6 early access had been approved. Cached versions and screenshots of the post still remain online.
While Rockstar has not confirmed anything, this would not be the first time. In 2018, a terminally ill fan was allowed to play Red Dead Redemption 2 early.
If true, it is a quiet but powerful moment for gaming.
