In a recent interview with Jason Schreier, Team Cherry co-founder Ari Gibson shared a clearer picture of where the studio might be heading next. Fans are still waiting for Hollow Knight: Silksong, but Gibson’s comments suggest the team is already thinking about life after Hallownest.

Looking beyond Hollow Knight

Gibson said that once Silksong and its DLC are done, the studio wants to explore new ideas. He spoke honestly about how long each project takes, saying that spending seven years on one game limits how many they can make in their lifetime. Because of that, they want the freedom to try more than one type of world or series.

When asked whether future games would stay in the Hollow Knight universe, he explained that the team does plan to go elsewhere, too. Even so, he said their style will stay familiar, big worlds, odd characters, and tough bosses. They also have ideas for returning to the Hollow Knight setting someday, but they don’t want it to be the only thing they make.

Gibson also added that he wouldn’t be bothered by making another Silksong, but experimenting with new genres and themes feels exciting for the team.

For now, nothing is confirmed, and based on their usual pace, it may be another four or five years before we see what they are working on next.
