Starfield beta patch brings minor fixes, bigger update still months away

Bethesda dropped a small beta update for Starfield on Steam. Nothing major, just a few quick fixes. You can try it now by switching to the beta branch in your Steam library.

Here’s what’s in the Starfield patch:

– Cleaned up Creations menu formatting
– Fixed visual bug with Extreme Temperature gear
– Improved sorting in the Missions menu
– General crash and stability fixes

The update is small, but Bethesda used the moment to repeat what it said months ago: “exciting things” are still on the way. No dates, just a promise that we’ll hear more “in the coming months.”

Todd Howard once said Starfield would get yearly story expansions. That’s not happening. Nothing has been announced, and it’s already clear we won’t see a second expansion in 2025.

There’s a rumour the delay is linked to the PlayStation 5 version. Bethesda could be holding back the next expansion to launch alongside the port. Or they’re just trying to get it right after Shattered Space underwhelmed.

That expansion got a mixed response. Story was decent, but it didn’t fix the game’s big issues. Exploration still feels empty, and the universe hasn’t grown.

So, this update doesn’t move the needle. But it’s a sign that the wait for meaningful changes is far from over.
