Star Wars Zero Company is finally official. After months of quiet teasing, the new tactics game from Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games was revealed today at Star Wars Celebration Japan—and yes, it’s exactly what you think it is: a turn-based strategy game set during the Clone Wars.

Star Wars Zero Company has been in development since early 2022. If Bit Reactor sounds familiar, it’s the studio made up of former XCOM developers led by Greg Foerstch, and it shows. The game draws heavy inspiration from that classic tactical design but wraps it in Star Wars lore, cinematic style, and squad-based storytelling.

Here’s what it’s about

In Star Wars Zero Company, you play as Hawks, a former Republic officer now leading a rogue squad called Zero Company. It’s a gritty, boots-on-the-ground kind of story where choices matter, and missions take you all over the galaxy. Think infiltration, intel gathering, and sharp tactical fights—along with running your base and building a web of informants to stay ahead of the enemy.

And yeah, you’ll get to build your dream squad. The main character is fully customisable, right down to class and appearance. Your operatives? Same deal. You’ll recruit from a pool of Star Wars-inspired classes and species—Clone Troopers, Astromechs, maybe even a Jedi or two. Each one can be personalised with load-outs, gear, and abilities. Over time, they’ll form bonds, unlocking combat synergies that can swing tough encounters in your favour.

Greg Foerstch, Creative Director at Bit Reactor, says the team’s goal is to blend the feel of Star Wars with meaningful tactical gameplay. Douglas Reilly, VP at Lucasfilm Games, calls the studio the “right squad” for the job—and says this is the kind of tactics game they’ve wanted to make for a long time.

Star Wars Zero Company lands in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. You can wishlist it now on Steam.
