Star Wars Fate of the Old Republic has been officially revealed, and it’s something fans have been waiting years for.
Announced during The Game Awards 2025, the game is a single-player, narrative-driven action RPG. It is being positioned as a spiritual successor to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, rather than a remake.

The project is in development at Arcanaut Studios, working alongside Lucasfilm Games. From the reveal alone, it is clear the focus is on story, choice, and player agency.
The team is led by Casey Hudson, the game director behind the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect trilogy. According to the official description, the game will take players across a galaxy on the edge of rebirth, where every decision pushes you towards the light or the dark side.
This puts choice and consequence back at the centre, which is exactly what many fans have been asking for.

The teaser trailer did not share a release window. It did, however, confirm that its cinematic scenes were captured using Unreal Engine 5, hinting at a modern visual approach.
More details are expected once the game’s official website goes live.
